Thoughts from Community Board

On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Southwest Indiana Walk to Emmaus (SIWE), we would like to thank the 4th day members for their continued prayers and devotion to our Emmaus community.  It takes a lot of hard work each walk season to orchestrate these events.  I have always loved Proverbs 27:17,  As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another”.    We see a lot of “iron being sharpened” on the Emmaus weekends, and our 4th day people are a big reason why.  All parts of these weekends are important, whether it be sponsoring a pilgrim, serving on a team, serving meals, making agape, participating in the 72-hour prayer vigil, attending a gathering or candlelight, and the list goes on and on.  There is a role for everyone to play in the Emmaus community and no one duty is more important than the other.  Christ calls us all to serve in different ways.  But each form of agape is needed to make each walk special for the pilgrims.

We want to thank Camp Illiana for the amazing facilities they offer for our walks.  Ben and the staff work very hard to keep our needs met in every way.  It seems they are constantly upgrading some part of the camp.  In return, we ask you help us to always return the camp as good or better than we found it.  This will insure that we can all enjoy this special place for many years to come.

Obviously, sponsorship is a key part to building the Emmaus community.  However, we ask that you prayerfully consider individuals when sponsoring.  Emmaus is intended for those who regularly attend a church and are looking to deepen their relationship with Christ.  It is this deepening relationship that moves those individuals to become Christian leaders.

Walk dates can be found near the bottom of this page.  We ask for your prayers for the Emmaus community, the teams and pilgrims, and the Board of Directors as we make decisions for the community, always seeking Gods will in everything we do.  Please feel free to contact any of the board members if you have question or concern.  Our contact information is listed on this website.  We meet monthly (1st Tuesday of each month) at First Baptist Church in Petersburg, Indiana, at 7:00pm

Men’s Walk 58

Formations are going to be here in a couple weeks. With the Lords help the team is full. Can’t wait to see how the Lord is going to mold this team together. It has been an honor to be able to make calls and ask these men that God has chosen to work. Please keep walk 58 in your prayers. 4th day members please sponsor lets fill this walk up. I’m just so excited to see lives changed.

Men’s Walk 58: March 7 - 10, 2019

Theme: My Life is Yours

Scripture:  2 Corinthians 5:17 “ Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”

Theme song: “My heart is yours” by Kristian Stanfill

Agape is such an important part of Emmaus.  I am asking that you pray about providing Agape to the Pilgrims of Walk 58. Those little gifts, trinkets and cards mean so much.   Please mark Agape as either “Table” or “Bed” so we can deliver accordingly (if you have a preference).

Should you feel led to help serve on the Men’s Walk 58 weekend in anyway, please feel free to contact any of the Head’s below:

Women’s Walk 58

March 14th thru March 17th, 2019

Our theme for the Walk is “Peace in Christ”.

Our scripture is John 16:33.

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace.  In this world you will have trouble.  But take heart!  I have overcome the world.”

Our song is “Peace in Christ” by Nic Day.

“There is Peace in Christ when we learn of Him.  Feel the love He felt for us when He bore our sins.  Listen to His words.   Let them come alive.   When we know Him as He is there is peace in Christ.”

Women’s Walk 58 had their first Formation on January 26th and we are all looking forward to serving our Lord and Savior with pure joy beginning March 14th.    I just bought a sticker at our local Bible book store and fell in love with the story it had associated with it.   In the packet is a small note stating “Breathe In Jesus” and the following “Breathe in Jesus, these three simple words are a gentle and powerful reminder of the peace that only Jesus can provide”.  That is what we want to share with the Pilgrims of Walk 58.   Peace in Christ.   It is our prayer that the Pilgrims on this Walk will feel that peace as they listen to His words and let them come alive.

We ask the community to continue lifting Team 58 up in prayer for our remaining Formation and for the Weekend of March 14th through March 17th.

Womens Walk 58A

Theme:  Trusting in His Goodness

Scripture:  Psalm 27:13  I would have lost heart, unless I believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. (NKJV)

Song:  Counting Every Blessing by Rend Collective

Our mighty God has been amazing to be my strength and guide as I have prayed about Team 58A, and He has been good to provide the team He has designed!  I am thankful for every servant heart that has agreed to give their time to share Jesus with these pilgrims.

The prayers and support of the Emmaus community is so appreciated and is what makes this such a special place!  Please continue to be in prayer over our preparation and the sponsorship of the pilgrims!

I thank God now for the goodness He will reveal! My prayer for each pilgrim is they will leave this experience with fresh encouragement and a deeper love for Jesus!
