Thoughts from Community Board

On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Southwest Indiana Walk to Emmaus (SIWE), we would like to thank the 4th day members for their continued prayers and devotion to our Emmaus community.  It takes a lot of hard work each walk season to orchestrate these events.  From the Lay Directors all the way down to the Week-End Helpers. This brings to mind , 1 Corinthians 12:12 For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ.   Each one of us Fourth Day plays a very important part of this body.  Whether it be sponsoring a pilgrim, serving on a team, serving meals, making agape, participating in the 72-hour prayer vigil, attending a gathering or candlelight, and the list goes on and on.  There is a role for everyone to play in the Emmaus community and no one duty is more important than the other.  Christ calls us all to serve in different ways.  But each form of Agape is needed to make each walk special for the pilgrims.

We want to thank Camp Illiana for the  facilities they offer for our walks.  Ben and the staff work very hard to keep our needs met in every way.  It seems they are constantly upgrading some part of the camp.  In return, we ask you help us to always return the camp as good or better than we found it.  This will insure that we can all enjoy this special place for many years to come.  As you enjoy the Campground you are likely to notice many upgrades that have taken place over the past couple of years and there are more planned.

Obviously, sponsorship is a key part to building the Emmaus community.  However, we ask that you prayerfully consider individuals when sponsoring.  Emmaus is intended for those who regularly attend a church and are looking to deepen their relationship with Christ.  It is this deepening relationship that moves those individuals to become Christian leaders.

Walk dates can be found near the bottom of this page.  We ask for your prayers for the Emmaus community, the teams and pilgrims, and the Board of Directors as we make decisions for the community, always seeking Gods will in everything we do.  Please feel free to contact any of the board members if you have question or concern.  Our contact information is listed on this website.  We meet monthly (1st Tuesday of each month) at First Baptist Church in Petersburg, Indiana, at 7:00pm

In Christ love

Lay Director's Report

See the Pilgrim Lists page for upcoming Walks

News from the Community Lay Director. Due to developments of the Governing mandate and also Upper Room suggestion, Women’s Walk 60A will be postponed with a planned date of March 11-14. The Board Realizes all the hard work , prayer and efforts that have been put forth and we appreciate it all. But we as a community of Emmaus  owe it to both the Team, Pilgrims and Fourth day to protect their health and do our part to help curb the spread of the virus. This was a very difficult decision and we ask that you keep all involved in prayer and continue to pray for our Country and SIWE community.    Thank you and DeColores .   Com. Lay Director, Marc Flaningam.

Women's Walk 60A

To say that I am honored and completely humbled is an understatement to be serving our Almighty God and the Emmaus Community as Lay Director on Women’s Walk 60A.  I am beyond blessed by this opportunity and I ask that you join me in prayer for God to equip me and this Team- that this weekend would be truly Glorifying to HIM!

Women’s Walk 60A will be held March 11-14. The scripture is Nehemiah 8:10 The Joy of the Lord is My Strength & our theme is “Delight in HIM.”  The theme song is “Joy of the Lord” by Rend Collective.

(Right-click on the link and open in new tab - turn it up & sing it out!) J

It is with great Joy & excitement that the team of Women’s Walk 60A is preparing for this special weekend.  It is our prayer that the pilgrims will leave the campground knowing and never doubting where their True Inner JOY comes from!  We Pray that their relationship with the Lord is strengthened and renewed and they would feel equipped & eager to share the Love of Jesus with those around them when they leave!

~HIS JOY must be in Us, to make our JOY Full~

Our request to all Fourth Day is to help us lavish Love and JOY all around these Pilgrims with lots and lots of AGAPE! The simplest note can warm a heart!

Also, we would certainly appreciate any “Green Agape” for our Cooks and we would love to see you help serve at one of the meals if you feel led.  But most of all, we ask for your continued prayers for these precious pilgrims and for our team and all families involved.

Please feel free to contact any of the Head’s below if you feel led to serve in anyway on Walk 60A- We would be truly blessed by any Fourth Day Servants!

Thank you for your prayers and for your servant’s hearts!  Prayers of Blessings & JOY over each of you!

Delighting in Him~

Women's Walk 61

It is a pleasure and honor to serve God and the Southwest Indiana Walk to Emmaus Community as we prepare for Women’s Walk 61, which will be held March 18-21, 2021!   It is easy to believe that God would do things for others but we just don’t know if we are worthy to receive His blessings for ourselves.  This doubt is preventing us from living the abundant life He promises!  We have to change our mindset and proclaim (no matter what) “YES! He loves ME. Yes! He forgave ME.  Yes! He wants to grant ME the desires of MY heart.   AND be fully persuaded in our hearts! The woman with the issue of blood, the thief on the cross and Jarius, among others, would not have seen the Glory of God had they not been fully persuaded that Jesus was who He said He was.   That is my prayer for the pilgrims AND team!

The theme for Women’s Walk 61 is “I believe.  Show me Your glory”.  In John 11:40, Jesus said to Mary and Martha, “Did I not tell you that if you believe you will see the glory of God?”   The theme song is “Show me Your Glory” by Third Day.  I painted our theme picture based on something I saw several years ago that reminded me of the Glory of God.

Agape is a very important part of Emmaus.  People tell me they look at their agape over and over again!   Please pray about providing Agape to the Pilgrims. Those little gifts, trinkets and cards mean so much.   We also would appreciate any “Green Agape” for our Cooks and would love to see you help serve at any of the meals.  Most importantly, we ask for continued prayers for the pilgrims and for our team.
